Last update: 2025 July

In the VitalLink Web Portal, admin users can access Protocol and Assessment Tool to:

  1. Select commonly used protocol templates, customize monitoring parameters, and efficiently complete protocol setup.
  2. Choose assessments for facility-wide use and link specific assessments as documentation requirements within protocols.

Once the protocol setup is completed in the web portal, VitalLink app users will have access to the corresponding protocols and assessments.

I. Apply protocols templates

  1. Click on Protocol and Assessment Tools in the menu and users will be directed to the default tab, PROTOCOL TEMPLATE.

  2. Click on any template from the list on the left to review detailed information about the protocol template and the PDF report it generates at the right.
  3. Click the USE TEMPLATE button at the top-right corner to begin customize the protocol.
  4. For most protocols, users can configure all parameters, including protocol name, measurement parameters, monitoring frequencies, and more.

  5. After reviewing the entire protocol setup, click the Save button to complete the configuration.

II. Select the assessments

  1. Click on Protocol and Assessment Tools in the menu, then select the Assessment tab at the top.

  2. Select an assessment from the Assessment Library and review the details on the right.
  3. Click on the ADD TO FACILITY ASSESSMENT button at the top-right. This assessment will appear in the Facility Assessment list on the left and will also be available for use in the VitalLink app under Document > ASSESSMENT.
  4. To link an assessment as part of the documentation requirement in specific protocols, click the APPLY TO NEW PROTOCOL button at the top-right. This will make the assessment available in the Assessment drop-down menu under Protocol Settings

Note:

1- For the setup of BSO-DOS© (2025) protocol, only the protocol name and two additional behavioural items can be customized, in accordance with the e-version standard mandated by the Behavioural Support Ontario Provincial Coordinating Office.

2- Assessments included in protocols that are typically used alongside vital signs measurements (e.g., Neuro Check assessment and Glasgow Coma Scale) will appear under the Reminder > VITAL SIGNS tab in the app. Assessments not usually associated with vital signs will appear under the Reminder > ASMT tab.

3- The Admin user is the default role with access to the Protocol and Assessment Tool. To modify role-based access, the Admin can configure permissions in the Access Level Settings.
